CATCHING UP THE BLOG

This will be our attempt to catch everyone up on where and what we have been doing since leaving Missouri on December 23, 2016.  If you check on the right side of the blog you can see our map with the states we have been in.  We will be going back through most of them spending more time.

We left out of Archie heading to Crestview, Florida after we make a stop in Staunton, VA

Leaving out on our Fulltime RV adventure

Saying goodbye to Calli
With an RV you always watch your height just like the big trucks.

Are we going to clear on the top?
Joyce call ahead and made reservations at the KOA in Staunton, VA

KOA we will stay in Staunton, VA
Starting out the first day in rain and heavy traffic.

Driving at night in the rain.
Crossing the river and it still has ice.

Ice on the river
We stayed at Archway RV Park in Mt. Vernon, IL.  We don't really level up because we are just staying the night and then leaving in the morning.  It was a nice campground and decorated in a western theme. Joyce used the Allstays App. It cost to buy the app but we love the ratings on all the campgrounds plus we use it to find the truck stops ahead.

Our first night's stay
We are amazed at the different town names.

Didn't have time to see Santa Claus
Still have ice on the hillside.
Still too cold here
 Another river.
Welcome to Kentucky.  We wish we had time to go by the Kentucky Horse Park.  We had such a great time there a few years ago with Joyce's cousins Norman and Alice. We'll go back again when we have more time. Alice & Joyce want to go to Churchill Downs!

Oh look a tunnel hope we're not too tall. LOL
Getting warmer.  No ice on the river but it's muddy.
No ice just mud
Kentucky has a different idea than Missouri when you mention horse farm.
Miles of wooden horse fence
A retirement home for Thoroughbred horses.  I don't know what they do with the Shetland ponies.

There is a lot of oil wells across Kentucky.

We traveled as many miles as we could because Randy wanted Joyce to have Christmas at her sister's.  Traveled through West Virginia at night going by the state capital. Joyce told her sister Randy's driving skills in downtown Washington DC years ago, honed his driving skills for driving mountains of West Virginia in dark, fog and misting rain.

We got into the Staunton KOA late at night so tired we were just glad to get stopped and in bed. We parked in their overflow camping for the night and then they were to move us in the morning.  This was a morning picture before we moved to our campsite on the hill.

While at Laura and Lloyd's for Christmas you can look out the back door and see the Blue Ridge Mountain Range.
View of Blue Ridge Mountains from Laura & Lloyd's back porch.
Lloyd started with a single train set and has continued adding to it and now has 3 trains running at once,

Grandma Livingston's Hoosier cabinet finally delivered! It used to be white, Joyce's friend Mickey got her husband Kenny to refinish it several years ago. We separated top from bottom to haul but of course it didn't fit between the slides as we thought. So we had to re-figure where to set it & had to dance around it in the entryway of RV for a couple of nights. The glass door top we had on bed and slid it off to sleep at night. Joyce's sister is keeping it as Katrina is putting her house on the market soon.

We got met by a group of ducks at camp spot on hill.  There weren't a lot of campers so we were the new guests to get visited by the bunch.  Once I stepped out I was spotted.  I thought ducks were supposed to fly away from you not run towards you.  I made my way to the camper to get something to feed them.  Four slices of bread don't go far.

Looks like an awful big box

We got behind the first big box transport, no traffic could get around it.

Where's all the water?  Lake Hartwell looked down about 20 feet

We took 285 around Atlanta, GA.
What a relief to get thru that traffic with 6-7 lanes at different times.

Florida is a great state for full time RVers to set up as domicile. So we now have Florida driver license and tags.
It's official - We're FLORIDIANS
